The Fortunoff Video Archive will mark thirty years at Yale University with a special daylong conference on October 21, 2012.

The Last Survivor screening

Free Film Screening of The Last Survivor

May 23, (Wed) 4p – The Dodd Center (Storrs Campus)

Following the film there will be a program for teachers with free education materials and discussion


“The Last Survivor is an award-winning, feature-length documentary that explores the idea of genocide in the 21st century. Following the lives of survivors of four different genocides and mass atrocities— The Holocaust, Rwanda, Darfur, and Congo—the film presents the stories of Survivors and their struggle to make sense of the tragedy by work-ing to educate a new generation, inspire tolerance and spark a civic response to mass atrocity crimes.”

Echoes and Reflections workshop

MONDAY, MAY 14, 2012

8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

There is no charge for the training, the Echoes and Reflections curriculum or meals!

Registration is limited to 25 high school or middle school Social Studies, English or Civics teachers. Schools must provide substitute teachers. Registration: first-come, first-served. Participants will receive a copy of the Echoes and Reflections curriculum; a one-day workshop; ongoing curricular support and 0.5 CEUs.

Number the Stars

A true story of courage and bravery in the face of evil

Newberry Award-Winning Book, Number The Stars, comes to life on stage at The Spirit of Broadway in new musical.

NUMBER THE STARS runs May 2 – June 3, 2012 with performances Wednesday & Thursdays at 7pm, Fridays & Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. The production is sponsored by People’s United Bank, O’Connor Davies and Mary & Leland Loose, Carol & Michael Lahan, Dr. & Mrs. Robert Crootof.  Tickets are $30 (adults) $25 (college students w/I.D. and $20 (students K – 12).

Saturday, May 12, – Meet the Writer VIP Party – Join us as we welcome Sean Hartley, back to The Spirit of Broadway Theater and his latest musical, NUMBER THE STARS.
